Estimated number of boating accidents in the U.S. were over
170,000 with only about 7,000 being reported because of serious injuries. The major portion of this 7,000 involves
propeller strikes on people. Many of
these injuries could have been prevented if the boat propeller had a
protection device in place.
Another
example for concern in safety can be seen in Florida where there is major
public and political action for the safety of manatees and people. This public action is very close to
enacting state laws requiring propeller protection devices on all boats in
Florida. This is just one of many
states examining ways to enact laws to protect their boating citizens. Indications are that more states and
organizations would pursue new propeller protector laws if a good quality and
reasonably priced protector was available.
The Prop Guard® offers that
protection and could be the leader in causing these laws to be enacted.
Here is more
evidence to support the marketability for the Prop Guard® . The following are reported estimated
statistics taken from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and
the U.S. Coast Guard for 1997:
Number for
people who participate in boating 78,406,000
Total
number of registered boats 16,284,000
Number of
outboard motor boats 14,811,000
The amount
of money spent on boating 19,334,470,000
